About the Scholarship

• Annual Awards: Up to $40,000 total. Individual scholarships range from $2,000 to $4,000.
• Open To: Entering college freshmen, undergraduate students, and graduate students.
• Field of Study: Enrolled in an ABET-accredited STEM program (engineering, science, math, etc.).
• Membership: Must be a SAME member (free for students) of Houston/Galveston Post, Texas A&M Chapter, or any supporting SAME Texas Region Post.

Eligibility Criteria

• Currently a part-time or full-time student at an accredited college or university.
• SAME membership as above (join for free if not a member).
• Pursuing a degree in an eligible STEM field.
• Students are grouped and compete in three categories:
  • Graduate college students
  • Undergraduate college students
  • Entering college freshmen

Selection Criteria

1. Participation in R.O.T.C. program (bonus points, not required).
2. Cumulative GPA (use high school GPA if entering freshman).
3. SAME student membership status.
4. Quality of Discussion Paper (see below).
5. 60-second self-introduction video.

How to Apply

1. Download and complete the application form (Download PDF)
2. Write a Discussion Paper (narrative format, not a resume), covering:
   • Personal information
   • Employment experience
   • Activities & leadership positions
   • Career goals
   • Honors/Awards
   • Reasons for applying
3. Record a 60-second video introducing yourself, your goals, and your motivation.
4. Submit all materials by May, 2026:
   Email the completed application, discussion paper, and video to scholarship.HOU.SAME@gmail.com
5. Attend the July Awards Luncheon to receive your scholarship!
